Two Steps Ahead Tutoring specializes in personalized instruction that helps students not only reach grade level, but accelerate beyond it. From standard math to test prep and advanced subjects (K–College), 2SA focuses on raising confidence, mastery, and motivation in every session.
Position Summary
Join the 2SA team as a high school math tutor focused on grades 9–12 (Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre‑Calculus, Calculus). You’ll provide one-on-one, individualized instruction—primarily in person (approximately 70% of sessions) in the Cleveland/Lakewood area, with the remainder conducted virtually. Your role is to help students stay on track and get two steps ahead through personalized, engaging sessions that emphasize growth and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver 1-hour tutoring sessions focused on acceleration—moving beyond just mastery of grade-level skills
Provide homework reinforcement, test prep guidance, and exam strategy support.
Adapt digital platforms/tools (e.g., Mathway, Desmos) to foster interactive and engaging learning.
Offer regular feedback to students and guardians, summarizing what was covered and suggested practice
Qualifications
Expertise in high school-level mathematics (Algebra I/II, Geometry, Pre‑Calculus). Bonus: experience with AP Calculus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, plus a patient, encouraging teaching style.
Ability to individualize instruction and pivot strategies as student needs evolve.
Comfortable with both in-person and virtual sessions; available to meet in person in the Cleveland/Lakewood area for approximately 70% of sessions
Reliable transportation for in-person sessions
Reliable internet and basic tutoring setup (e.g. graphics tablet for virtual whiteboarding recommended)
Must be at least 18 years old and comply with any relevant background check requirements.
