Two Steps Ahead Tutoring provides personalized math instruction designed to help students not just reach grade level but gain confidence, mastery, and academic momentum through individualized tutoring. We serve a wide range of learners from elementary students building foundational skills to college students tackling advanced coursework — both online and in person throughout Northeast Ohio.
Position Summary
Join the Two Steps Ahead Tutoring team as a versatile Math Tutor supporting learners at all levels — elementary, middle school, high school, and college. You’ll deliver engaging, tailored 1-on-1 or small-group math instruction that helps students catch up, stay on track, or get ahead in their coursework. Sessions may include homework support, test prep, conceptual instruction, and confidence-building strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, student-centered tutoring sessions across all math levels, such as:
Basic arithmetic and early numeracy
Pre-algebra and middle school math
Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry
Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics
College-level math (e.g., Calculus II+, Linear Algebra, Discrete Math)
Tailor lessons to individual student needs and learning styles.
Offer homework reinforcement, exam/test preparation, and strategic study guidance.
Use tools and technology (e.g., Desmos, interactive whiteboarding, graphing tools) to make sessions interactive.
Provide regular feedback to students and guardians about progress and next steps.
Maintain professional communication and scheduling with families.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of mathematics at one or more levels from elementary through college.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Patient, encouraging tutoring style with the ability to adapt instruction.
Comfortable teaching both in person (locally) and virtually.
Reliable internet and basic tutoring equipment (e.g., device for virtual whiteboarding).
Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass relevant background checks (as needed).
Preferred but not required: prior tutoring/teaching experience or relevant degree.
